The hamlet of Miquelon lies along Rivière O'Sullivan, which connects lacs Waswanipi and Pusticamica. The town was named in honour of Jacques Miquelon, Québec Minister for Lands and Forests in 1960. A small town, Desmaraisville, was established next to the Canadian National rail line ; it was named in honour of Monsignor Aldée Desmarais, former bishop of the diocèse of Amos.
